April 2, 2024, SEOC Activation
FRANKFORT, KY—On April 1, 2024, the Kentucky Emergency Management State Emergency Operation Center was activated to provide increased monitoring of storms entering the region. As the threat escalated, on April 2nd, KYEM leadership increased the activation to level 2 to include all state partners in response efforts for storms and tornadoes across the Commonwealth. In total, the event resulted in 19 tornados in Kentucky alone and one weather-related fatality in the state.
